Netflix shares plunge as subscriber forecasts miss estimates

By Anya George Tharakan and Lisa Richwine

(Reuters) – Streaming video service Netflix Inc forecast U.S. and international subscriptions would grow at a slower pace than Wall Street expected this quarter, sending its shares tumbling 8 percent in after-hours trading on Monday.

Netflix said it expected to add about 500,000 customers in the United States in the second quarter that ends in June, compared with Wall Street targets of 586,000, according to FactSet StreetAccount. The forecast includes a “modest impact” from the beginning of a price increase for its monthly movie and TV subscription service, the company said.

The company known for its original shows including “Orange is the New Black” and “House of Cards” said it expected to add about 2 million subscribers in markets outside the United States, versus analyst expectations of 3.5 million, according to FactSet. It also reported results for the first quarter, when subscriptions outpaced its own target.

Balinese food: The battle of Balinese Crispy Duck

By Marchellinus Hanjaya

Everyday is Sunday in Bali, the vacation island of Indonesia, so they say. Tourists throng the sidewalks, shops, clubs and, of course, restaurants, as Balinese food and flavours are tourist-friendly. There are two distinct characteristics about Balinese food – freshness and spiciness – a very popular combination in many lands but they do it with finesse in Bali.

One of the most visited area in the island is Ubud, which is becoming more popular since the movie Eat, Pray, Love filmed segments there. Although they didn’t film the “eat” in Bali (a real pity), the movie spoke no less about the food of this ancient island.  Her tranquil paddy terraces are popular lures for tourists in search of peace, calm and some seriously fresh air. But we’re all about food today.

7 travel beauty tips

Travelling is stressful business. Jetlag, together with the lack of access to showers, hairdryers, and your regular beauty products might leave you looking a little sallow and less glamorous than usual in transit. Air travel restrictions that permit no more than three ounces of liquids on board aircrafts means an even bigger compromise on your skin care regime, so it’s essential that you pack wisely. Whether you’re traveling by plane, train, boat or car, these beauty tips will help you to look fresh and stunning while travelling, at the transit lounge and when you arrive at your destination.

1. Always Keep Skin Clean
If you can only bring one skin care item from home, it should be your facial cleanser. You can always purchase moisturizers or toners at duty-free shops, but it’s best to stick to a cleanser that you know agrees with your skin to avoid breakouts or a sensitivity rash. If you’re using make-up, get pre-moistened makeup remover towelettes from brands like Neutrogena or Mac and make sure you remove your makeup before going to sleep.

Fossil Of T-Rex’s Horse-Sized Cousin Found

Scientists have discovered a new species of dinosaur that helps explain how the terrifying Tyrannosaurus rex evolved.

Bones found in Uzbekistan belong to a creature that looked like the T-rex, but was only 10-12ft long and weighed around 600lbs.

A T-rex could be around 50ft long and weigh more than 20 times as much.

The discovery of the earlier dinosaur helps fill in a gap in the tyrannosaur fossil record that has frustrated researchers for years.

Madonna breaks down while dedicating song to her son Rocco Ritchie during Revel Heart tour

Madonna broke down when she dedicated a song to her son Rocco Ritchie while performing at her Revel Heart tour in Auckland. The singer is currently in the middle of a custody battle with her ex-husband filmmaker Guy Ritchie, 47, over their son.

Dedicating one of her songs, La Vie en Rose, to her son at the Vector Arena on Friday night (4 March) the 57-year-old singer told the audience: “That is my son, who I mentioned earlier. He is actually 15 and it’s true, there is no love stronger than a mother for her son.”

“And, if I talk about him too much, I might cry. But I would like to dedicate this song to him,” she said. “It’s a love song for a man, but I know he’ll be one, one day. I hope he hears this somewhere and knows how much I miss him.”
